Bio

Ryan Wick is an author, award-winning director, screenwriter and Filipino martial arts instructor. After attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania, he set out for New York City to pursue his dream of becoming a filmmaker. Since that time, he has worked on well over 1000+ productions and directed countless award-winning commercials, documentaries, music videos and films. Aside from living the better part of his life on sets around the world, he has also written numerous scripts and taught cinematography classes at the New York Film Academy and Princeton University.

Although Ryan’s love of cinema has never wavered, he grew tired of curtailing the scope of his stories due to budget constraints and executive influence, so, instead, decided to try his hand at long fiction. Freed from the limitations of what could “actually be put on screen,” he fell in love with the liberty of telling a great story where only the characters and the narrative itself dictate what can happen. SAFECRACKER, his debut novel, and the first in a series, will be released on August 11th, 2020 from Thomas Dunne Books / St. Martin’s Press.

A member of both the Mystery Writers of America and the International Thriller Writers, when Ryan isn’t hunkered down writing in his apartment in New York, he still teaches Filipino Martial Arts, travels the world and enjoys scuba diving. If you buy him a glass of whiskey or wine, he’ll be more than happy to regal you with embarrassing or unbelievable celebrity stories from his fifteen+ years of working in entertainment.
